Dorsey and Sam were married on Saturday, November 21, at First Baptist Church Opelika.
What a great couple! These guys were so easy to work with and such a pleasure to be around. When Dorsey first came in to book her wedding I must admit she threw me a huge curve ball– that curve ball would be the size of the wedding party. There were 15 bridesmaids, 15 groomsmen, 9 flower girls, 2 little soldiers (ring bearers), 4 honorary bridesmaids and the members of the honor guard who formed the Saber Arch for their exit from the ceremony.
A wedding photographer never truly knows what a day will be like until he or she arrives on location the day of the wedding. I had been preparing myself in the days preceding the wedding for any and all things I thought might come our way. I’m thrilled to report that the entire day went off without a hitch! The children were so well-behaved! I don’t know that I’ve been a part of many weddings where the children were so easy to work with, nevermind all eleven of them! (Some days just two or three can really be a challenge!) The adult members of the wedding party were also so cooperative! Wedding days can be long for members of the bridal party, but these guys and girls were absolutely amazing to work with. Everyone was so laid back and did exactly what was asked of them, and the families were great as well! Seriously, just a photographers dream for a wedding party of that size!
Thank you to those who were a part of the event for making it as easy as possible on us. We truly are appreciative! We also wanted to say an extra thank-you to the members of the armed forces who took part, including the groom. It was an honor to work with you and we are so grateful for your service to our country. Working with a group of soldiers (some of these guys are on the front lines daily!) like you renews a deeper spirit of patriotism. Thank you for doing what you do so that we can have the jobs and freedoms that we have. Also, a thank-you to the wives and significant others of our soldiers. You are an integral part of keeping these folks going. I know your support means everything to them, which in turn means everything to us.
Now to the part I know everyone is waiting for… the previews! The rest of the photos will be available in the next couple of days, so be sure to check them out on our main site: www.flipflopfoto.com (click on “client proofing” and then their names.)
Until then, enjoy the previews!
Aren’t the little soldiers precious!?! Not to mention how beautiful Dorsey looked!

As is tradition in a military wedding, Dorsey and Sam made their exit underneath the Saber Arch. This is a really cool tradition and serves as a formal welcome to Dorsey into Army life.

Dorsey and Sam were so excited to have Retired Lieutenant General Hal Moore as an honored guest at the wedding. (For those of you who don’t recognize his name right away, he is the man who wrote the book the movie “We Were Soldiers” centers around. Lt. Gen. Moore was played by Mel Gibson in the movie). You can click on his name above for more information about him.

And last but not least, a few favorite shots of the bride and groom.

CONGRATULATIONS DORSEY AND SAM!
